About the online course
The main goal of neuro-occlusive rehabilitation is to achieve balanced occlusion for children and adults. In this course you will learn how to do it.

What will you learn in the course?
— Neuro-occlusive rehabilitation.
— The laws of Ganau and their practical applying.
— Use of Paterson pads.
— Functional chewing angle of the Planas (FGUP).
— Treatment of patients with TMJ diseases.
— Treatment of children: selective grinding, direct pads with composite, Planas devices.

This course will be interesting for orthopedists, gnathologists, orthodontists who would like to achieve a balanced occlusion in the rehabilitation of patients.
Carlos de Salvador Planas
- Dr.Carlos de Salvador Planas was licensed in Medicine and obtained his specialty degree in Dentistry in 1986. In 1994, obtained a PhD title for his work on Development of the Stomatognathic System and Neuro-Occlusal Rehabilitation by the University of Barcelona.
- He is the current president of CIRNO-Pedro Planas Spanish Association and scientific co-director of the International Federation of Pedro Planas Associations.
- Since the beginning of is career, due to his direct family relationship with Prof. Planas, he develops his professional activity at Dentoclinic private practice. Where he continues with the work of Prof. Planas both at the healthcare level as well as training professionals who wish to learn about Neuro-Occlusal Rehabilitation.
- For this reason, he actively participates in numerous conferences and dictates courses on this subject. But the most intense training activity is the one carried out in the Dentoclinic dental office, which Dr. Planas himself already organized as a center for the training of N.O.R., carrying out practical courses since 1989 with students from different countries.

Lesson 1
"NOR (Neuro-Occlusal Rehabilitation): Prosthetic Treatments"
Carlos de Salvador Planas
1. We will define the Neuro-Occlusal Rehabilitation as the method to obtain a perfect balance in centric occlusion and in lateral movements. All the inferior teeth have to maintain contact with their corresponding superior teeth.
2. In order to understand the bases to achieve this balance we have to analyse Hanau's Laws and understand the application in its practical form.
3. We will understand the application of these principals in the methodology in order to build a completely well balanced prosthesis. It is especially important to know the use of Paterson's tracks.
4. We can apply these concepts when we carry out rehabilitations with fixed prosthesis when wide sectors of the dental arcade are used.
5. Finally we will see the application of these principals in rehabilitation using implant-supported prothesis. We see how the functional rehabilitation of our patients is optimized doing a true rehabilitation of all oral functions, especially chewing.
A patient under prosthetic rehabilitation, removable or dental-supported or implant-supported, will have a more satisfactory result the better balanced the occlusion is at the end of treatment. The patient will find more comfort in the oral functions, especially chewing. We will have a better future of the support elements, in both natural teeth and implants in fixed prothesis, and a better stability in removable prosthesis.
Lesson 2
"NOR (Neuro_Oclusal Rehabilitation) – Mastication: diagnosis and treatment"
Carlos de Salvador Planas
1. Neuro_Oclusal Rehabilitation's main objective is to obtain a balanced occlusion. This is analysed in central and lateral movements.
2. Chewing is the most important function to obtain a well-balanced occlusion. We observe this in very primitive societies where a chewing of great intensity is carried out.
3. The chewing diagnosis is explained by knowing Planas' Masticatory Functional Angle (PMFA). We see its application. We understand the chewing physiology.
4. The treatment of chewing is studied from different points of view.
5. When we do a wide prosthetic rehabilitation, as a complete prosthesis, we must create a well-balanced occlusion. Therefore it is very important to place correctly the occlusal plane. In this way we do a real rehabilitation of the chewing function.
6. An important group of patients are the ones who need treatment of the problems of the temporomandibular joint. In these cases we must rehabilitate the chewing function:
- Balancing the central occlusion.
- Balancing the lateral movements.
Treatment is therefore carried out in rehabilitating the chewing function.
7. When we treat children whose bite we need to correct, all the therapeutic elements that we use are based on control and functional stimulae using:
- Balancing occlusal: selective grinding.
- Direct tracks with composites.
- Planas' appliances.
We will obtain the objective using functional stimulae which are the lateral movements.
The objective will be to obtain a functional balanced occlusion, and the results will also look good aesthetically.
